      An ideal vacation rental in the Adirondacks, the Miller Homestead is a two story stone house built by a Quaker family in 1822. The home was restored over the period from 1996-2000 and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This lovely vacation rental is situated on 80 acres of forest land in the northeast corner of New York 's Adirondacks near Lake Champlain and the Ausable Chasm.

     The property is within 15 minutes of the Ausable Chasm and Port Kent where a ferry may be taken to Burlington, Vermont. Lake Placid and excellent skiing and mountain biking are less than 45 minutes away. For shopping and additional historic sites, the vacation rental is 20 minutes from Plattsburgh, NY and the historic village of Essex. Montreal is less than an hour and a half away for a day or evening trip for site seeing and shopping.
     Locally, there are numerous hiking and cross country skiing areas, rock climbing on Pokamoonshine (great easy hike with excellent views of Lake Champlain), Winter and Summer activities at Whiteface Mountain, swimming and picnicing at Ausable Point State Park, swimming and hiking at Point au Roche State Park, excellent white and flat water paddling and superb trout fishing on the famous Ausable River. One could also visit High Falls Gorge and other waterfalls all within a 45 minute drive of the vacation rental.

     One doesn't have to leave the property to enjoy a network of hiking and cross country ski trails throughout the 80 acres of hills, fields and forested land. Stone walls lace the wooded areas reminding us of the legacy left behind from the Quaker farmers. The property is a wildlife sanctuary, posted for no hunting and abounds with wildlife, including turkey, deer, partridge, fox, rabbit, beaver and a variety of birds and wildfowl in the wetlands on the lower end of the property. There are mountain views in the back of the house as well as flower, raspberry, grape, and herb gardens on the premises.
